Visualising alcohol consumption in Europe

This map shows which type of drink contibutes most to each country's alcohol consumption, by volume of Ethanol.

Alcohol consumption patterns in Europe

  • Countries in Blue are spirits (usually Vodka)
  • Countries in Yellow are beer.
  • Countries in Red are wine.
  • White is no data/omitted

Interesting to compare with the "Alcohol Belts" ... just because a country is a major wine producer, doesn't necessarily mean that wine is its favourite drink. Spain, for example.

Map was produced using QGIS and Blender.
