Fisheye projections, and geographical percpetion

I was inspired by this question on GIS SE on how to do a fisheye projection. I used a logarithmic scale and Plat Caree (Equirectangular projection) to distort the map of Europe according to the logarithm of the distance from Edinburgh, using Postgresql and postgis.

This sort of map can be centred anywhere, and it probably gives you a good idea of how people actually perceive Geography in their mind's eye.
